The Book of Eli The Firebirds

The Book of Eli (the original English The Book of Eli) is an American film of action movies and science fiction, 2010, directed by Albert Hughes and Allen Hughes, written by Gary Whitta and starring Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis and Jennifer Beals.

a post apocalyptic future where Earth was devastated and left little to tell the story, we are faced with Eli (Denzel Washington), a wandering man who lives for 30 years, seeing day after day of desolation. The picture shows where the devastation is possibly caused by a war. There are no means of communication, transportation is poor, and drinking water is gold. However

to find a village, Eli discovers that the so-called "mayor" Carnegie (Gary Oldman) the place is constantly striving for a book which according to itself, will bring him the power to govern the people through faith and fear. It is the Holy Bible, a book that Eli has in his possession, and it does wander westward, seeking what God wants him there. In this fictional future the Bible is spoken of as a likely cause of the war that created a doomsday scenario where the survivors live, and rightfully so, all its copies were burnt during the conflict, further increasing the value of publishing in possession of Eli . Increasing thus also the desire to obtain it by Carnegie.

Psicodália 2011 - Second day

I went to bed on Friday with one certainty: He had a lot to write.
The dawn Saturday caught me with a closed throat and very sore. He knew that one day would be more complicated, but shows promise: I was eager to see the Traditional Jazz Band.
As is my custom, I woke up early, leaves the tent and went to the bathroom queue.
Rows ...
They deserve a separate chapter in this festival. There were many queues. Queues to buy, queues for food, queues for drinking, making queues for queues. One must have some adaptation to the new reality of the festival: he grew up ...
not have access to numbers. Not yet left the festival after release, then do not say exactly how many people worked, how many entered the festival, nor how many meals were served. But it is visible to the naked eye expansion Psicodália. The queues were a result. But this in no way took away the luster of the festival. For some it was just a chance to talk.
Here again, memory fails, and can not remember what else I did this morning. Had already made friends with Maurice Cellars, and I think that was because he did most remarkable friendships, and here was the biggest coincidence of the festival.
not remember how we started talking, but it was a large class: basically all of northern Paraná, but some live in São Paulo. At one point Talk one realizes that the shirt I was wearing, the first edition of our Virtual Festival (February/2010). This was Louise, aka Le. He saw the shirt Psychedelic Teardrop and asked what my relationship with the blog ("Dude, you are the Tears Psychedelic?"). In this, another that was crying in the tent there "Ow, already downloaded stuff from there. He had a crazy few sounds that put bands Psicodália. When I commented that I was crazy, he identified himself as an anonymous who posted asking for help because I could not open the file. I was at that time knowing an anonymous Internet: Was Raoni, aka Cachaca Captain and his alter ego Captain Hangover, being of Divine Light ("Half a schizophrenic, not ???"). The fact that I know of an anonymous Internet was, to say the least, interesting. It made me realize that the gig that we do here in the blog resonates in some way, and is perceived by people across the computer.
Along with Raoni and Louise, were his brother John, Flavia (have I mentioned that is the same name of my daughter? "), Carol (in the absence of one, had two), Thiago, Guga, Fozzy , Japa, Bruno. Galera northern Parana and Sao Paulo, who were the companions for the rest of the festival. People who shared everything: friends, humor, camaraderie.

Also on this day I talked with a carioca. Casual conversation, without further details. When we talked about the festival (structure / bands / organization) he identifies himself as the creator / organizer of the Rock Village. Jailton. Like all of Rio, a good guy to chat. We talked a lot about music and festivals, after all the shows I was always out front taking pictures, and watching him.
I won a ticket to watch the Rock Village this year. Number 0007. The willingness to embark on a crazy trip to Rio de Janeiro is great.
The Jailton came, talked to the organizers of Psicodália. Who knows what he can not get out? Long live the festivals and rock'n roll ...

Concert Saturday afternoon

On the stage of the Sun, the first band to perform was the Smokers. I liked the sound, but I do not remember much because here was a bit of fever and throat closed. I took some pictures and went to an ice-free water (closed throat and cold water do not mix) and seek girls from the press office of the Festival.

I went back in time to see the second show of the week: Ghost Train.
I spoke of this band. The boys make a sound I like very much, and made the show as I expected. Simple, straightforward. The EP songs were well played, and pleased those who attended.

not seen the third presentation of the day: Nego Blue.

break for a snack, chatting with friends new and ready for the evening shows. He was anxious to see the Traditional Jazz Band, but the fatigue and throat were knocking me over. Unfortunately, could not stand it and went to sleep before the show the TJB. Pictures of them only when they came to soundcheck and press conference. I did not participate because he was photographing the shows of late.

Concert Saturday evening

The evening began with the rock guitar of Joe with Trinity. Mining band with a sound and consistent. Mining in this Psicodália (there were many) always shouting "ROCK'N ROLLLL ZÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉ. Sound works really well live, with a footprint. Too bad the guitar occasionally make a noise. Problems with the cable. But that did not take the gloss of the presentation and the footprint of the miners ...

break another bottle of Aga ice-free chewing a salty either, making the traditional order "Feed me." I did not ask the girl's name who kindly took care of me, but we did not need names. Friendships are made easy at this festival, without labels.

I returned to front stage, it would start the show's Troupe Sonora House Orat. I expected more of a fucking show. She hoped to hear the same songs on the album The Dream Crafter, I sing these songs to death, because the album really captivated me. Begin the presentation, and that I knew nothing watched. There was something strange. Where were the masks? The troupe got their faces painted, and performing songs from the new album, the band is still recording. Moonlight. Another psychedelic trip / musical / theatrical. Jaw open, I try to watch the show and register with the visual images of the troupe. I have no doubt that this will be another album that will please me in full: travel sound of the troupe take me away. "Give me wings but take my feet." They've done it.
Many photos later, I see the attentive audience. Apparently, many others also waiting for the Craftsman. The scenic presentation is most striking about this show. At the end of every act, music, cheers and more applause.
At the end of the show, the band thanks. "Only fools believed" ...
The encore came with Hills, Craftsman Dream. A final show with a fantastic dream trip ... "Words are words, nothing more." Nothing is more appropriate. I feel sorry for those who missed the show ...
break another bottle of water without ice. The fatigue was becoming unbearable, the annoying rain, and the neck closed.

The third show of the night please completely to the public Psicodália: Soup.
The band has their sound full of color, bladders. With a strong appeal for party and fun, and thanks the crowd sings / skips.

Here my throat irritated me so much, my fatigue was so great that after a few songs and some more pictures, I went to the tent to rest, thinking back to the Traditional Jazz Band. Sad illusion ... I slept until morning and missed the rest of the night ...

still a future post ...

Interview - Lemmy (49% & 51% Motherfucker Son of a Bitch)

Source: Toronto Sun
and blog Press Rocker

"YOU CAN NOT NOT SHIT WITHOUT ANYONE accuse you of something," says LEMMY

The site of the newspaper "Toronto Sun" conducted an interview with Lemmy Kilmister, who is in Canada for a series of six concerts of Motorhead's new world tour, which passes through Brazil in April.

Among various issues, spoke of Lemmy from Motorhead style, the documentary about him that just came out and things that go through your head when you're on top of a stage.

Question: Who would win a fight between Lemmy and God? Answer: This is a difficult question, Lemmy is God!

The joke is old, I know. But for generations of bangers is a religious truth.

and fair. Certainly, no one thinks that the bassist and vocalist of Motorhead, Ian (Lemmy) Kilmister - an unrepentant speed demon, addicted to slot machines and confessed lover of all women - is a candidate for canonization. But look through their warts, and you will notice some suspicious divine qualities:

* He is immortal - or nearly so. Despite a life of excess and a decade of diabetes, 65 years old rocker says he has "the liver of a newborn child" (do not ask where he found it).

* He is infallible - or consistent anyway. "The World is Yours" his 21st studio album in 35 years, Metal power trio that brings full of nifty riffs and blasts of thunder, courtesy of guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee. In front and center, you will always find Lemmy down and beating his preaching to the choir, talking about death, Rock, hypocrisy and greed in his coarse howl on "Ace of Spades."

* He's everywhere. Along with the album and accompanying world tour that arrives in Canada this month, he also stars in the new documentary "Lemmy: 49% Mother Fucker. 51% Son of a Bitch. " With the DVD release scheduled for March, roughly follows the revealing work of the stage to the studio until his surprisingly humble apartment in Hollywood full of souvenirs of war and weapons.

* He is a man of the people. Amid a busy schedule of interviews, the rocker took time before the soundcheck in San Diego to discuss the glories of ABBA, and let himself go all the gas on.

Congratulations for 65 years. Were you surprised like everybody else?
Yeah, probably. But I did not plan to die just to meet everyone's expectations.

You will take advantage of discounts for seniors?
No, I'm spending more. I was in Las Vegas for my birthday. I'm trying to get rid (of money) before you go. I will not pay inheritance tax (Translator's Note: It is a tax on property, or the total amount of money and property from a person who died). I will die broke.

In the new song "Get Back in Line," you say "nowadays most things are a drug." When times were good for you?
The era of the Beatles. But there were several good old days. Nowadays, everything seems very disciplined - so many rules and restrictions. You can not shit without someone accusing you of something. It's really strange that people allow themselves to be placed in this corral. America was built by the revolution. What the hell happened to that spirit? He's gone.

If you were in charge, the first thing you would do?
Looting everybody and start all over again. It would take money from big corporations and give it up for people. Having everything in the hands of 10 people is not good.

What is the secret to writing a song from Motorhead?
All you need is a verse that serve as a hook. You can sing about the moon in June, has a good hook. The best example is ABBA. They may not be your kind of band, but you'll find yourself singing their songs. You can not get them off the head as the listening.

Some people complain that their albums sound all the same.
Well, it's the same band, right? It sounded kinda like it. We do occasionally some changes - we put a lot of ballads on the albums - but people do not understand them. It's weird.

Are you happy with the documentary? Is there anything that you wish you had not been shown?
No, it's the truth. I do not care about the truth. Would all be better with a little more real.

How you relate to your neighbors?
Very good. I have a great neighbor. He is 74 years old and used to dance in a cage at the Whisky (NT: Lemmy refers to the ontological club Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles, they passed the great names of Rock). But I'm away for seven months a year.

You feel more at home on the road?
I always felt. Home is where you leave their stuff. On the bus, where I am now is where I really live.

The remains of your hearing?
Well, I can hear you asking me about it, is not it?

What do you think while you're singing "Ace of Spades" for the billionth time?
All kinds of things. You would not believe the shit that come to mind - "I will switch off the gas?" And the like.

You must have had chances to win cash and Lemmy. You never was tempted?
No. I'm not stupid. I value my integrity. There are some boundaries that you can not overcome. Some people said I should do a reality show. What the fuck you gonna do with it? I live alone. You'll shoot me playing video games for an hour?

Wal-mart Mashmallow Shooter

Charles Bradley

He makes a kind of sound to the style of artists such as Darondo, Spanky Wilson, Sharon Jones and other 'niggaz and Negona' respect for the soul jazz, but the fact is that Charles Bradley was a renowned unknown until a short time ago. Behold, a single by Menahan Street Band released in 2008 showed the singer the world, and the rest is history.

And that life story, is not it, Charlie? No Time For Dreaming is an exceptional album of soul music for lovers of old-school genre. The sound of the CD is totally tied to the golden era of black music, and we have the impression that this is a forgotten album in the vaults of time.

Looking to print the crown we can say that it resembles a combination of Tony Tornado with James Brown, and despite being an album debuting at the soul man of 62 years is what we call a veteran starter. The story is long, but it's worth glancing at the text below.

Charles was born in Gainesville, Florida in 1948, but was raised in Brooklyn, New York. Lived most of his childhood on the streets. One of his first contact with music was when he had the opportunity to go to a James Brown concert at the legendary Apollo. On his website, Charles says that concert changed his life. But in life nothing is perfect, the difficulties led Charles to leave Brooklyn to find a job in a bar in the state of Maine. He learned to cook, and even set up a band. It was the beginning of his pursuit of the dream of being an artist.

At the same time, Charles got the taste of the stage and made some presentations. At that moment he knew he was destined to be a singer. However, the fate tried to prevent his dream: his companions went to the Vietnam War while he was forced to find work as a chef in a mental hospital.

Nearly a decade later, Charles Bradley decided to drop everything and headed west in search of his musical dream. Toured the U.S., going from New York to California to ride, coming to Canada. He ended up in Alaska, where he found employment as a chef. After a while, decided to make his way back, this time by plane. In California, it was more than twenty years working as a chef, and sometimes could either show as a musician, but anything that made bet your chips in a real career. Until he lost his job and decided to return to Brooklyn to be near her family.

With the money saved, Charles filled a truck with his musical equipment, bought over the years, to again try his luck in the Big Apple. Made several presentations at local clubs, and a good time later, while performing as Black Velvet, was seen by Gabriel Roth, co-producer of Daptone Records, who instantly recognized his talent and led directly to the studios. Charles could then your first single.

thereafter, he met the composer and guitarist Thomas Brenneck. Together they released two singles and mounted a new band - The Menahan Street Band. In short, Charles finally had the opportunity to showcase their talent. It was in 2008 when he released a single memorial, and among the musicians present were the then-unknown Charles Bradley. The song "The World (Is Going Up In Flames)" has taken shape and life in his voice, his talent was recognized and the album's release was a matter of time.

Da Hood retro look with a leak from what we hear speakers, No Time For Dreaming is a master disc of soul. Besides the songs, they roll a few spots or instrumental themes by Menahan Street Band, which makes clever interludes and gives refreshment and beauty to the work context.

just need two sounds to convince the reader / listener for the refinement of the work: Tasque player in "The World (Is Going Up In Flames" and "Heartaches and Pain", last track on the CD, and you'll know what I mean .
Charles Bradley
